You should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 3)
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said…?” (Gen. 3:1)

There is nothing new under the sun.  This same tactic is being used today to sow doubt in God’s Word and introduce unscriptural philosophies of men into the church.  Those who follow after personalities and don’t value the Word of God are easily swayed.

Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. (Col. 2:4)

Below are some of the latest ‘persuasive words’ that are deceiving many.  These are quotes from the latest ‘theology’ that has been packaged for the unsuspecting.

1.  “Jesus alone, (apart from Scripture), is the final and the full self-revelation of God.”

Sounds good but is error.  The subtle point is to discredit the written Word.  Jesus is only revealed through the written Word of God.  Any description of Jesus apart from the written Word would be error.

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:27)

2.  “Salvation is not a one-time transaction, but an enduring relationship that God has with all humanity.”

Pure fantasy.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:13)
“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” (1 Pet. 4:18)

3.  “The good news is that Jesus has done everything necessary for our salvation from start to finish, including believing for us.”

God does not do our believing for us!

“if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” (Jn. 8:24)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Rom. 10:9)

4.  “Human beings do not start from a neutral point where they may equally and freely choose to love or reject God.”

Actually, this is EXACTLY what redemption has accomplished.  All men were locked in death and separation, both the righteous and the unrighteous.  The power of sin and death was defeated on the cross and now all men are once again free to choose their destiny.

5.  “When He died, we all died; when He rose; we all were born again in Him.”

No.  We are born again by hearing and believing the gospel.

“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” (Eph. 1:13)
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”  (Rom. 10:14)
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Gal. 3:26-27)

We cannot pick and choose which verses we are going to believe and which we are going to ignore.  God’s Word is in harmony with itself, but sadly some modern teaching is not in harmony with God’s Word.
