The Measure of Faith

The faith that we have received is not human faith based on reason or experience. We have received the gift of faith, Jesus' own faith!

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Gal. 2:20 and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God

The faith we have is the same that the apostles had:

2Pe 1:1 ¶ Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us . . .

We are told in Romans 12:3 for some to not think more highly of themselves than others because we have all received the same measure of faith. Some didn't get more and others less. Some did receive different giftings, but not a different amount of faith.

The faith we have received is compared to a seed in Luke 17:6. Jesus taught a lot about the power of the seed. The kingdom of God functions according to the principle of the seed. The seed must be sown and the result will be a harvest of like kind, and more seed! (Mark 4:26-29)

The point is that while we all have the same measure and quality of faith, if it is not sown it will not develop. As we sow our faith by speaking and acting on the Word, that faith can move mountains! (Mark 11:22-23)

This faith has only one source. We cannot pray for more faith, nor fast for faith, nor worship for faith. Faith only comes by hearing the word of God.

Ro 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

As we hear the Word of God concerning our redemption, forgiveness, healing, victory, etc., that Word contains within it the faith of God. The Word is a seed and faith is a seed. The seed of faith is contained in the seed of the Word.

The faith that we released to be saved is the same faith that we must release to be healed. We appropriate all of the promises of God by that same faith! We simply must hear the Word to know what has been deposited in us. Once we know, we speak.

2Co 4:3 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

As we learn the power of the faith that is within us, and as we are made aware by the Word of all the potential of that faith, we begin to sow that "measure" in every area of our lives and we see the resulting harvest of blessings.
